What an amazing weekend!
On Friday the 11th of August, the Media and Worship Team travelled to Awhitu to start their first ever retreat!! We made a stop in Waiuku at a local fish and chips store in the cold winters evening, to have some dinner. When we arrived in Awhitu, we unloaded the cars, allocated rooms, listened to a beautiful devotion led by Setu, and had some supper to end our evening.
Friday night was our settling in evening.
On Saturday morning, breakfast was at 8am and our devotion of the morning started at 9am, which was led by Tai. Each of our devotions were a good lead into what our workshops of the day were going to be. Each workshop was focused around our roles within our teams and how we can continue to fill our spiritual cup, while also leading our congregation in Worship.
As a group we spent some time reflecting on Scripture. During this time, we looked into Psalm 62 and what that meant to us as individuals and then shared our individual reflections, into the wider group. In our alone time with God, we all found a space within the campsite, to allow us the chance to talk with God. The atmosphere in this moment, was indescribable.
Throughout this weekend, we were exploring our purpose. This weekend helped us reconnect with God but also provided us with the tools we needed to continue and strengthen our walk with Christ. Some of the exercises we partook in, challenged us physically, spiritually, emotionally, and mentally.
However, we let God take the lead in everything we did.
We want to send a special thank you to our church family for their love and their prayers while we were away on our retreat. The Worship and Media team are excited for what’s to come and look forward to continuing God’s work within the church.
